Biography

N. Zoe Hilton is a forensic mental health researcher and a registered psychologist educated in the UK, USA, and Canada. She holds a Research Chair in Forensic Mental Health at the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care and is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. Her research focuses on intimate partner violence risk assessment, communication among healthcare service providers, and treatment progress for individuals in forensic psychiatric care. She has led several projects, including the Common Language for Intimate Partner Violence Risk Appraisal (CELIA), which aims to improve police and researcher partnerships to enhance evidence-based approaches in assessing intimate partner violence (IPV) risk. Additionally, she is involved in the Trauma Psychiatric Workers Project, which surveyed staff in psychiatric hospitals across Ontario to identify their exposure to critical events. Prof. Hilton also focuses on forensic mental health services research that examines patient deficits and treatment needs among individuals in forensic psychiatric care.
