Biography

N.K. Anand is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University and holds the title of Regents Professor as well as the James J. Cain ’51 Professor III. He is an affiliated faculty member in the Multidisciplinary Engineering and Nuclear Engineering programs. Anand received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1983, an M.S. degree from Kansas State University in 1979, and a B.E. degree from Bangalore University in 1978. He has a rich academic and research background with a focus on finite volume techniques, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, physics-informed neural networks, and reduced order modeling. His contributions to the field have been recognized with several awards, including the Edwin F. Church Medal from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2026 and the James Harry Potter Gold Medal in 2020. He has also received the University Level Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award from Texas A&M University in 2018, and was inducted into the Kansas State University Engineering Hall of Fame in 2011. Anand is known for his dedication to teaching and has received the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University.
