Biography

Nadeem Siddiqi is a Professor in the School of Linguistics and Language Studies at Carleton University. With a strong academic background encompassing a BA in English from the University of California, Davis, an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College, and both an MA and PhD in Linguistics from Arizona, Nadeem specializes in formal linguistic theory with particular focus on morphology and grammatical architecture. His research also extends to syntax, morphophonemics, lexical processing, parsing, and lexical semantics, alongside historical and variation studies in English. Nadeem is involved in developing the Lexical Realizational Functional Grammar model, which integrates aspects of Distributed Morphology and Lexical Functional Grammar, and he leads the Morphology Lab at Carleton University, which collaborates internationally to explore various aspects of morphological phenomena. He is also responsible for several grant-funded research initiatives and teaches graduate seminars covering topics related to morphology in the Linguistics curriculum.
