W. R. Nadège Compaoré is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto. Her work lies at the intersection of (Pan) African politics, International Relations theory, International Law, global extractivism, and gender and race in International Relations. Compaoré's research investigates the dynamics of global resource governance and multi-level claims of sovereignty in Africa, as well as the historical evolution of Pan-Africanism and Black Internationalism. She has published in prominent outlets such as the International Studies Review, International Studies Perspectives, the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of International Studies, the Oxford Handbook of Environmental Politics, and has co-edited a volume entitled New Approaches to Governance of Natural Resources: Insights from Africa with Palgrave. Her current research is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). Originally from Burkina Faso, Nadège completed her PhD in Political Studies at Queen’s University, where her research, also funded by SSHRC, informed fieldwork in Gabon, Ghana, and South Africa.
