Professor Dr. Nader Engheta

Biography

Nader Engheta is the H. Nedwill Ramsey Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, where he holds appointments in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering, as well as in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with the highest rank from the University of Tehran, followed by his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Engheta's research interests cover a broad range of areas, including optics, metamaterials, electrodynamics, microwaves, nano-optics, and imaging techniques inspired by the vision systems of animals. Additionally, he has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the field, such as the 2020 Isaac Newton Medal Prize from the Institute of Physics (UK) and the 2020 Max Born Award from OPTICA. As a distinguished member of the academic community, he serves on various editorial boards and has held key positions in prominent conferences. Engheta's impactful research and leadership in the field highlight his commitment to advancing optical science and technology.
