Biography

Dr. Sadeghi currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head Neck Surgery at McGill University and as the Director of the McGill Head Neck Cancer Program. He graduated from McGill Medicine in 1991 and completed his residency at McGill, followed by a research fellowship. Dr. Sadeghi underwent fellowship training in Head Neck Oncology Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, IL. After an early career at McGill, he moved to George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he held the position of Professor of Surgery and Director of Head Neck Surgery. In 2017, he returned to McGill to lead the department. His research primarily focuses on head and neck cancer, specifically the development of novel therapeutic strategies for oral and throat cancer. He emphasizes harnessing advances in systemic therapies and minimally invasive robotic surgery to devise innovative combinations that allow for effective cancer control while minimizing chronic therapy-related toxicity. Dr. Sadeghi is also engaged in adaptive clinical trials, starting systemic therapy and investigating personalized adaptive approaches to surgical treatment for oral throat cancer.
