Biography

Nadia Lambek joined the Faculty of Law at Western University in 2021 as an Assistant Professor. Her research investigates the role of law in shaping food systems, as well as the engagement of social movements in law-making and property law. Lambek’s work is rooted in critical theory, law and anthropology, and labor law. She is a founding member and current co-chair of the Canadian Association of Food Law and Policy. Nadia collaborates with civil society organizations regarding issues of food system governance and works with the Civil Society Indigenous Peoples’ Mechanism at the UN Committee on World Food Security. Prior to joining Western Law, she was a fellow at the Institute for Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School. Lambek has practiced law with a focus on the promotion and protection of workers’ rights and has served as an advisor to UN special rapporteurs on the right to food. She has held the position of adjunct professor at Vermont Law School and has clerked for the Ontario Court of Appeal. Nadia has published numerous articles and co-edited books relevant to food law and policy.
