Nadine Dijkstra is a Principal Research Fellow in Imaging Neuroscience at University College London. Her research focuses on computational neural mechanisms of mental imagery, employing a combination of neuroimaging, psychophysics, and machine learning. She investigates questions such as how the brain generates mental images, the extent to which these images resemble the perception of the external world, and the differentiation between imagination and reality. Additionally, she explores how these processes may influence mental health. Dijkstra obtained her PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the Donders Institute in Nijmegen in 2019 and subsequently moved to London for postdoctoral research under Stephen Fleming. She is also an independent Principal Investigator at the FIL and will begin in this role in 2024. Dijkstra has held various positions, including Marie Curie Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at the Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging.
