Biography

Nafees Ahemad joined Monash University Malaysia in September 2012 after completing his PhD in Natural Products Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in Mohali, India. His research expertise includes total synthesis of natural products and the design of new chemical analogues for the discovery of novel anti-HIV agents based on natural product templates. He has also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang. His current research focuses on computational approaches for the rational design of new drug candidates targeting HIV-1 and dengue therapeutics. Ahemad is engaged in projects that support UN Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to the development of new receptor-targeted fluorescent probes and investigating enzyme inhibition to develop new anti-HIV agents. He has also contributed to educational initiatives to enhance pharmacy students' performance through guided learning methodologies.
