Dr. Nafsika Alexiadou

Biography

Nafsika Alexiadou is a Professor in Educational Work at Umeå University. She specializes in education policy and comparative studies, focusing on the governance of education policy within the context of the European Union, and the relationship between national policies and Open Method Coordination. Her research interests include issues of inclusion and equality in national and transnational contexts, as well as the internationalization and marketization of higher education policies. Nafsika has been involved in various research projects, including a management committee role in the EU COST Action CA22121, which examines nationalism and geopolitics in the future of European higher education. Her educational background includes a doctorate from the University of Oxford, and she has previously worked at Keele University in the UK and the University of Macedonia in Greece. Nafsika has supervised multiple doctorate students in diverse fields relating to health education policy and childhood education care, among others. She is also active in editorial roles for international peer-reviewed journals and has been a project leader in several research initiatives funded by the Swedish Research Council. Nafsika's teaching includes courses on education theories and policies at both the undergraduate and doctoral levels.
