Biography

Nagham Mohammad is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Guelph. With a PhD in Biostatistics from Western University obtained in 2014, Dr. Mohammad has a solid background in both statistics and pedagogy. During her tenure, she served as a lecturer in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Sciences at the University of Waterloo from 2014 to 2018 before joining the University of Guelph. She is committed to fostering effective learning environments that inspire creativity and critical thinking among her students. Dr. Mohammad has taught a variety of courses including Introductory Mathematical Statistics II, Applied Regression Analysis, and Biostatistics, focusing on developing course content and resources to enhance student engagement in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. Her research interests encompass statistical pedagogy, estimation methods, and modeling, with particular emphasis on public health and social sciences applications. This includes addressing complex issues such as regularized gamma regression and incomplete data analysis. Dr. Mohammad’s teaching excellence has been recognized with various awards, including the UGFA Distinguished Professor Award for Excellence in Teaching and titles of Favorite Professor from the Student Housing Services.
