Dr. Nagore Calvo Mendizabal

Biography

Nagore Calvo Mendizabal obtained a BA in Social Political Sciences from the University of Deusto, Bilbao, Spain, in 1999, and completed postgraduate courses on political economy sociology at the University of Lancaster. She completed her PhD in Sociology at the University of Lancaster and has worked as a teaching tutor. She joined King’s College London in 2009 as a Teaching Fellow and became a Lecturer in 2010. Her research interests include themes in political economy, state theory, globalization, nationalism, geography studies, and historical sociology, particularly in the context of modern contemporary Spain and Europe. She welcomes doctoral students interested in political economy and historical sociology, especially regarding state formation in Spain and the Basque Country and issues related to nationalism and state restructuring in the contemporary European context. Nagore has taught courses within the Department of Spanish, Portuguese Latin American Studies, and the Department of European and International Studies, focusing on history, politics, and economics. Currently, she teaches modules on Nationalism in Spain and Political Economy in Spain, and she engages in public debates related to her areas of expertise.
