Biography

Nahal Mavaddat is an Associate Professor and the Head of Discipline in General Practice at the University of Western Australia. She completed her PhD in Neuropsychology at the University of Cambridge, focusing on the decision-making deficits observed in patients with anterior communicating aneurysm ruptures. Her research is centered on understanding how individuals perceive their own health and the social influences that affect health perceptions and outcomes, particularly among stroke survivors. Mavaddat has previously served as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Cambridge and is currently involved in various initiatives aimed at enhancing medical humanities education and training in primary care. Mavaddat also coordinates graduate research in the Medical School and leads the UWA Medical Humanities Network, showcasing her commitment to bridging clinical practice with the humanities in medicine.
