Naikhoba Munabi graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Human Biology and obtained her MD from Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Following medical school, she completed an integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC) and completed a fellowship in craniomaxillofacial pediatric plastic surgery at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, which is recognized as one of the largest craniofacial surgery programs in the country. In addition to learning advanced surgical techniques across nine clinical sites in Los Angeles, Dr. Munabi furthered her education with an MPH at USC, specializing in global surgery. During a two-year fellowship, she initiated programs to improve surgical education and conducted research on strengthening health systems in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Munabi has authored 40 peer-reviewed publications and presented her research at numerous national and international plastic surgery conferences. Her specialties include adult aesthetic reconstructive surgery and her current research interests focus on cleft and craniofacial surgical outcomes, disparities in access to craniofacial surgery, and global surgical education capacity building.
