Biography

Naïma Cherchem is an assistant professor in the Entrepreneurship Strategy Department at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University. She received her Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Jean Moulin-Lyon 3 in France and holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Rennes 1, France, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Oran 2 Mohamed Ben Ahmed in Algeria. Naïma's research interests focus on strategic entrepreneurship, institutional entrepreneurship, internationalization, and cognition. She specifically explores the successful pathways of strategic entrepreneurship actions in existing firms, the interplay of psychological traits and organizational factors, and the role of entrepreneurial ecosystems in sustainable development. Her current research examines how institutional systems and entrepreneurial ecosystems contribute to the reinvention of existing firms, particularly in emerging markets and turbulent business environments, such as during the Covid-19 pandemic. With experience in teaching and supervising students, Naïma has developed courses in Management, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship at various educational levels in AACSB-accredited business schools in France and Canada. Additionally, she has acted as a consultant for the Business Families Foundation and embraces her diverse cultural background, combining Arabic, Mediterranean, North-African, and Canadian values.
