Professor Dr. Najmedin Meshkati

Biography

Professor Meshkati holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and a B.A. in International Relations from National University of Iran. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Southern California. As a recipient of the Presidential Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation, he has led research in safety, reliability, and efficiency of complex, large-scale technological systems, including nuclear power and chemical processing plants. His work emphasizes risk reduction in Civil Infrastructure Systems and promoting environmentally sustainable manufacturing. He has served as a Principal Investigator for grants from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and is a Certified Professional Ergonomist. Meshkati has received numerous awards for his teaching and service, including the Human Factors Ergonomics Society's Arnold M. Small President’s Distinguished Service Award and has been a Jefferson Science Fellow. His academic contributions span various interdisciplinary areas, reflecting a commitment to advancing safety and education in engineering.
