Biography

Nakeyah Giroux-Works obtained her PhD in anthropology from Laval University. She is interested in the relationships that human communities have with nature, specifically how forests and green spaces are perceived, used, and altered in the context of increasing privatization and commodification of nature. During her postdoctoral research at the Centre de recherche sur le futur des villes, she will conduct research on the imaginaries, experiences, and dynamics of injustices affecting the accessibility of Black and Afro-descendant individuals to forests.
