Biography

Dr. Nalo Hamilton is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Inclusive Excellence at the Joe C. Wen School of Nursing, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She earned her PhD in Biochemistry from Meharry Medical College, where she studied the regulation of BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes associated with inherited breast cancer. Her research focuses on the regulatory effects of the insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-2) signaling pathway in the development, progression, and metastasis of triple-negative breast cancer, particularly in premenopausal women. She aims to understand the prognostic and therapeutic potential of IGF-2 in breast cancer treatment. With a unique combination of biochemistry, molecular biology, and clinical expertise, Dr. Hamilton addresses significant health disparities in women's health and cancer care. She is an active member of numerous professional societies and has participated in various research initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care in breast cancer treatment.
