Nan Hao received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Timothy Elston at the University of North Carolina and with Erin O’Shea at Harvard University/Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His research focuses on understanding molecular networks that control gene expression and the dynamics of cellular functions in response to environmental stresses and aging using innovative techniques such as microfluidics and imaging technologies. By quantitatively tracking molecular processes in single living cells, his lab develops computational models to predict cellular behaviors and responses. Current key research themes include decoding how cells transmit environmental information, understanding mechanisms of cellular aging, and quantifying the heterogeneity within cancer cell populations.
