Biography

Nancy Baxter obtained her MD from the School of Medicine at the University of Toronto, followed by a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from the Institute of Medical Science at the same university. She is a board-certified colorectal surgeon and holds a position as a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. Baxter serves as the Deputy Executive Dean (Research Centres) at the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney, as well as the Head of the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health. In addition, she is an affiliate scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael's Hospital and a Senior Scientist within the Cancer Theme Group at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences. Her research interests include the effectiveness of colorectal cancer screening, long-term survivorship among cancer survivors, and the quality of surgical care provided to patients. She has extensive experience in using administrative and cancer registry data to evaluate the long-term consequences of cancer care in adults.
