Dr. Nancy Deguire

Biography

Nancy L. DeGuire earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Pacific in 1989 and completed her post-graduate residency training at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in 1990. After spending a decade in community pharmacy management and patient care at Longs Drug Stores, she joined the University of the Pacific faculty in 1997. In her current role, she is responsible for teaching in the professional pharmacy curriculum as well as supervising external relations, continuing professional education, marketing, public relations, alumni donor relations, program development, and fundraising. Under her leadership, the school's fundraising efforts have resulted in over $40 million in external funding for facilities, program development, and scholarships. Her areas of expertise include cultural competency, health literacy, professionalism, technology, and public health, and she is dedicated to mentoring students and faculty. In recognition of her outstanding mentorship, she received the Podesto Award for Teaching and Mentoring from the University in 2009. She has held various leadership roles, including serving on the board of the California Pharmacists Association and as a Speaker of the House Delegates for CPhA in 2010. DeGuire is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Pharmacists Association and the National Community Pharmacists Association.
