Dr. Nancy Heath

Biography

Nancy Heath is a distinguished academic and an international leader in the study of mental health resilience, particularly in educational settings. As the Director of the Education Mental Health Resilience Office at McGill University, she focuses on building resilience among students. Her research addresses crucial issues such as non-suicidal self-injury, emotion regulation, and coping strategies for student stress. With over 25 years of experience, she has aimed to improve mental health outcomes for children, adolescents, and young adults through her extensive research and numerous publications. She has received multiple awards for her mentorship and contributions to the field, including the Dr. Suning Wang Award and the Mentorship Award from the Canadian Committee of Graduate Students in Education. Her collaborative approach often involves participatory action research, effectively combining community engagement with academic inquiry.
