Dr. Nancy Holman

Biography

Nancy Holman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She joined the department in August 2008 and has previously managed the MSc Housing Regeneration in the Department of Social Policy. Her academic background includes a PhD in Urban Policy from the University of Portsmouth and an MSc in Community Regional Planning from the University of Texas. Nancy's research primarily addresses issues of governance, local planning, sustainable development, and community participation. She has utilized social network analysis to explore the complex relationships within multi-level, multi-actor partnerships in modern governance. Her work often intersects with LSE London's specialist research unit, which focuses on understanding London's economy and broader metropolitan issues. This interdisciplinary group has significant expertise in areas such as housing, finance governance, and socio-demographic changes. Her current research interests include urban conservation policy, with a focus on conservation areas in England and their impact on local environments.
