Dr. Nancy Newman

Biography

Nancy Marcus Newman, Esq., is a practicing public interest nonprofit attorney. She is involved in supporting young people who are failed by current systems, particularly in the areas of child welfare and family advocacy. As a certified recovery specialist, she developed the Tri-State area Collegiate Residential Recovery Community for university students struggling with substance use. Newman has advocated for the rights of disenfranchised youth who are abused, neglected, or otherwise fall through the cracks of government and private systems. She formed and chaired the Pennsylvania Legislature’s Joint State Government Commission Advisory Committee on Adoption Law and revised the state’s entire Adoption Foster Care Law. Her work includes advocacy on various commissions and task forces aimed at addressing youth violence and public health laws in response to incidents such as the Sandy Hook tragedy. Additionally, she teaches as an Adjunct Professor at Delaware County Community College, presenting lectures on Contract Law for Paralegals and has led national webinars addressing homelessness and addiction recovery. Throughout her career, Newman has initiated collaborative public interest programs across diverse areas such as child abuse prevention, juvenile justice, and early childhood education, promoting awareness and resources for adolescents and families struggling with substance use disorders.
