Biography

Nancy Nixon received her Honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Calgary in 2008 and completed medical school in 2011. She underwent training in Internal Medicine with a specialization in Medical Oncology in Calgary, finishing in 2016. In 2017, Dr. Nixon completed a clinical research fellowship in breast cancer under the supervision of Dr. Sunil Verma and is currently a full-time medical oncologist at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Since 2017, she has been recognized with the Early Career Research Program Award from the Canadian Institute of Health Research and has been featured in the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s LEAP magazine for her research focusing on patient priorities in cancer research. Dr. Nixon is involved in translational research studies at the University of Calgary, examining biomarkers for tumor response to treatment and immune therapies. She has secured significant funding for her research endeavors and has played an active role in community fundraising efforts, raising close to 1 million CAD for cancer research through the Tom Baker Cancer Conquerors initiative.
