Dr. Nancy Sicsic

Biography

Nancy Sicsic is a passionate and imaginative pianist and organist, known for her ability to engage audiences through her performances. As a member of the Graduate Music Faculty at the University of Toronto, she teaches courses in piano and the Alexander Technique. Her mission focuses on helping musicians age in a fully engaged, aware, and empowered manner, allowing them to achieve their potential with ease and fluidity on their instruments. Sicsic is a certified Alexander teacher, qualified to assist performing pianists and other artists in eradicating unnecessary muscular effort and tension in movement. Her extensive 30-year career in music education includes roles as an active professor, enthusiastic private studio teacher, and wellness promoter among musicians. She earned her Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the prestigious Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where she was mentored by notable instructors such as John Perry and H. Max Smith. In addition to her teaching role, she serves as the Director of Music and organist at Westminster United Church in Orangeville, Ontario, where she leads the Celebration Choir. Sicsic also directs a popular concert series, “The Sounds of Westminster,” featuring a diverse range of classical and contemporary music.
