Nancy Williams' research focuses on the physiological and behavioral underpinnings of the interactions between energy balance, reproductive function, bone health, and exercise performance. She is a member of the KINES Graduate Faculty and holds a Sc.D. in Applied Physiology from Boston University. Williams has an extensive academic background with a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Bucknell University. Her specializations include women's health and exercise, particularly the emphasis on the female athlete triad, and the effects of energy balance, menstrual cycle physiology, and exercise on women's health. She studies the interactions of food intake, exercise, and metabolic signals, as well as the impact of psychosocial stressors on reproductive health. Williams leads research projects on exercise physiology, women’s health issues related to diet and exercise, and gastrointestinal peptides that affect food intake. She is affiliated with the Women's Health & Exercise Lab (WHEL).
