Biography

Nancy Worman's research focuses on style, body, performance, classical Greek drama reception, rhetoric, and ancient and modern literary theory. She has published several books and articles on these topics, including 'Landscape Spaces Metaphor Ancient Literary Theory Criticism' (Cambridge 2015), 'Virginia Woolf’s Greek Tragedy' (Bloomsbury 2019), and 'Tragic Bodies: Edges Human Greek Drama' (Bloomsbury 2021), for which she won the 2022 PROSE Award in Classics. Her current research is centered on the embodiment of ancient and modern literary theory and feminist receptions of ancient literature. Worman joined the Barnard faculty in 1996 and teaches courses in Classics and Comparative Literature, including classes on the Classical Tradition, Ancient Literary Criticism, and Greek language courses.
