Biography

Nandita Vijaykumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough and a Faculty Member at the Vector Institute. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University, where she was advised by Professors Onur Mutlu and Phil Gibbons. Her research focuses on the intersection of computer systems, architecture, visual computing, computer vision, robotics, and machine learning, with a particular interest in building efficient and scalable systems that enable machines to perceive, interpret, and interact with the physical world. Her work emphasizes cross-stack co-design that spans algorithms, compilers, runtimes, and hardware, targeting workloads such as 3D reconstruction, neural rendering, spatial perception, and generative models. She has collaborated with various industry partners, including Intel, AMD, LG, Sony, Rebellions AI, and academic partners such as NSERC and MITACS. Dr. Vijaykumar is currently looking to take on new graduate students in her research group and welcomes undergraduate students interested in her work to reach out directly.
