Dr. Nanwei Wang

Biography

Nanwei Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Brunswick. His research interests primarily focus on graphical models, composite likelihood, Bayesian model selection, and linear mixed models, particularly in the context of genome-wide association studies (GWAS). Dr. Wang has developed statistical learning methods aimed at analyzing high-dimensional data, which frequently arises in machine learning problems related to genetic research. His work includes the development of composite likelihood methods for high-dimensional statistical models and the exploration of scalable likelihood methods applicable to complex systems, particularly in studying large deviations theory for estimators. He also examines Bayesian model selection methods and contrasts them with likelihood-based approaches, contributing to advancements in these statistical methodologies.
