Dr. Naomi Berezin

Biography

Naomi Berezin, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery with a focus on Critical Care at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Berezin specializes in emergency and elective general surgery, treating conditions including gallbladder disease, hernias, diverticulitis, and bowel obstruction, while providing care for critically ill surgical patients. Her dedication to patient care and medical education is evident in her approach to communicating diagnoses and treatment plans, ensuring patients understand their care through visual aids. Dr. Berezin is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents, engaging them in courses on palliative care and surgical board preparation. Dually board-certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, she completed her medical education at Sackler School of Medicine and pursued residency training at Montefiore Medical Center. She furthered her expertise with a fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center before embarking on her academic career at Yale School of Medicine.
