Biography

Naomi Koerner (PhD, 2007, Concordia University) is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her research interests focus on the interface of cognitive processes and psychopathology, particularly how cognitive psychology concepts inform and refine cognitive-behavioral theories and treatments for anxiety-related disorders, with a specific emphasis on generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Her areas of interest include the causal role of cognitive processes in worry and anxiety, the mechanisms of action in exposure-based treatments (especially imaginal exposure for GAD), and the development and testing of cognitive training procedures for anxiety psychopathology through proof-of-concept experiments. Dr. Koerner has received competitive research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Ontario Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science.
