Naomi Oosterman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Arts and Culture Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research focuses on the illicit trade of art and antiquities, particularly in relation to Latin America, as well as policing art heritage crimes and contested colonial heritage. She has published extensively on these topics and co-edited several volumes examining the sociological and criminological perspectives of crimes in the art world. Naomi leads the LDE Global Initiative project titled 'Policing Illicit Trade Cultural Objects', which investigates public attitudes towards policing actors in relation to art heritage crimes. Elected as a member of the Executive Committee for the Association of Critical Heritage Studies in December 2022, she also serves as the Vice-President for Research Chapters. Naomi teaches courses on social science methods and coordinates the Bachelor Graduation Project while supervising master's theses. She has developed a joint minor on Authenticity in Art Crime and coordinates the course 'Crime Disruption in the Art Market'.
