Dr. Narcis Bassols Gardella

Biography

Narcis Bassols Gardella is a lecturer and researcher in Sustainable Destination Development at Uppsala University’s Campus Gotland. He teaches courses on destination management and is committed to promoting sustainability within urban environments. With a diverse educational background spanning Germany, the UK, Spain, and Latin America, he has amassed extensive professional experience in the tourism and hospitality sectors. Before academia, Narcis was actively involved in sales and restaurant management, where he spent over fifteen years developing relationships within the fair trade sector. He has dedicated the last decade to academia, focusing on fostering a passion for learning among undergraduate and postgraduate students alike. His research interests lie at the intersection of tourism, urban planning, and sustainability, particularly in developing fair and sustainable management practices in destinations. He employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods, advocating for case-based research to better connect with the needs of the students and the broader community. Fluent in six languages, he is a multicultural team player dedicated to building cooperative relationships among students, the academic community, and the industry.
