Biography

Nárlon C. Boa Sorte Silva is an Assistant Professor at Concordia University in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, Applied Physiology. He completed his postdoctoral training at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health at the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Professor Teresa Liu-Ambrose. He earned his PhD in Kinesiology from Western University, where he was involved in research at the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine. Originally from Brazil, he obtained his BSc in Physical Education from Nove de Julho University in São Paulo. Dr. Silva’s research focuses on the impact of physical activity and exercise on brain health during mid to late life, with interests in neurodegeneration, neuroprotection, and novel data modeling techniques. He utilizes his expertise in conducting randomized controlled trials and observational studies to collect and analyze neuropsychological and neuroimaging data. He actively promotes equity in research and education and is committed to open science and social justice. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with his family.
