Biography

Dr. Nasir Uddin is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Physiology at Texas A&M University. He has an educational background with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, completed in 1988 and 1990 respectively. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biology from Gifu University, Japan, in 2000. Following his doctoral research, Dr. Uddin worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow under the Japan Society for Promotion Science, focusing on Molecular Medicine from 2003 to 2005. His professional journey includes a significant position as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Assistant Research Scientist at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and Baylor Scott & White Healthcare, where he contributed to hypertension-related research between 2006 and 2010. Dr. Uddin’s current research interests are centered on preeclampsia, a systemic hypertensive disorder during pregnancy, aiming to explore its underlying pathogenic mechanisms and to identify molecular therapeutic targets for effective treatment. His lab also investigates the metastasis of ovarian cancer, with a focus on developing novel inhibitors that prevent tumor cell migration. Thus, Dr. Uddin's work blends both maternal-fetal medicine and cancer research, making significant strides in understanding and addressing these critical health challenges.
