Biography

Nasser Rabbat is a Professor and Director of the MIT Aga Khan Program in Islamic Architecture. His research interests encompass Islamic art and architecture, urban history, heritage studies, Arab history, contemporary Islamic art, and post-colonial criticism. He teaches lecture courses on various aspects of Islamic architecture and oversees seminars on topics such as Orientalism, colonialism, and Islamic urbanism. Professor Rabbat has been recognized for his academic endeavors, including receiving the British-Kuwaiti Friendship Society Prize for Middle Eastern Studies in 2024. He has held academic positions in prestigious institutions across the globe and has served on advisory boards and committees, contributing his expertise to various cultural and educational organizations.
