Nat holds joint positions as an NIHR BRC Bridging Fellow focusing on the composition of indoor air and respiratory health, and as a Specialist Policy Officer in the Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences at the University of Southampton. He is also a Knowledge Exchange Impact Fellow, contributing to a £42.5 million UKRI Strategic Priorities Fund Clean Air Programme aimed at delivering policy impact for researchers. As a transdisciplinary researcher, Nat works at the intersection of chemistry and statistical modeling of pollution exposure, emphasizing the importance of policy engagement for researchers in the academic community. He has a background in chemistry (MChem from the University of Southampton), which fueled his interest in air quality characterization. His continued studies have led him to explore the multidisciplinary aspects surrounding air quality characterization, its sources, and health impacts. Nat completed his PhD under the Leverhulme Trust Doctoral Scholarship at the National Oceanography Centre, investigating particulate matter sources in port areas and conducting source apportionment studies in Southampton. Throughout his PhD, he built experience in policy engagement and knowledge exchange, including a placement with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, where he investigated maritime emissions reduction technologies, and worked with Hampshire local authorities on regional air quality initiatives. He remains committed to acting as an active researcher while supporting knowledge mobilization efforts for fellow researchers.
