Biography

Natali L Chanaday is a Presidential Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. She earned her PhD in Chemistry from Universidad Nacional de Cordoba in Argentina in 2015. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of neuronal communication, particularly at the single synapse level. Through her work, she investigates fast and slow modes of communication, including action potentials and neurotransmitter release, and how synaptic properties are shaped by calcium signaling and inter-neuronal communication. Chanaday employs live fluorescence imaging and electrophysiology in her basic science research, aiming to understand synapses that have undergone changes due to neurodegeneration.
