Natalia Castro Picón received her Ph.D. in Latin American and Iberian Latino Cultures from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York and holds a B.A. in Spanish Philology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She specializes in modern contemporary Iberian literature and culture, integrating Cultural Studies methodologies with a glottopolitical perspective. Her book, "La fiesta del fin del mundo. Apocalipsis cultural en el periodo entre crisis (España 2008–2020)," investigates the pervasive presence of apocalyptic imaginaries in Spanish cultural production and public discourse from the 2008 financial crisis to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she explores collective poetry writing as a model for social bond regeneration in cultural crises. Castro Picón is also a member of the General Coordination Team ALCESXXI and an affiliate of Princeton’s Program in Latin American Studies, participating in research on transnational elites and inequalities. Her research has been supported by fellowships and grants aimed at promoting Spanish culture abroad. Before joining Princeton, she taught at Brooklyn College and City College of New York.
