Biography

Litchinitser holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and has been a leading expert in optical metamaterials for over a decade. She began her research career as a scientist at the University of Michigan and joined the faculty at the University of Buffalo in 2008. Her primary research focuses on the manipulation of light through metamaterials, especially in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, and currently investigates topological photonics to guide light around sharp corners using small waveguides, thus preventing scattering of photons. She is recognized as a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) and the Optical Society of America (OSA), and is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
