Biography

Natalie Beausoleil is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Laval University, a Master's degree, and a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her research interests focus on social production, gender, body, health, and illness. She employs qualitative research methodologies with a feminist critical approach, incorporating arts-based research within the medical humanities. Natalie has conducted numerous research projects including 'Power Heal', which promotes artistic activities in medical education. She has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator in various funded projects exploring body image, health, and artistic creativity in different demographics, particularly among youth and elderly caregivers. Beausoleil has co-founded the Body Image Network and was previously a member of the board of directors for the Eating Disorder Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador. Her course offerings include advanced qualitative methods and critical gender studies in health. Throughout her career, she has received several research grants from SSHRC and the Public Health Agency of Canada, contributing valuable insights and publications in her field.
