Dr. Natalie Colabianchi

Biography

Natalie Colabianchi is a researcher and Associate Dean at the University of Michigan's School of Kinesiology. She is a professor with a specialization in Applied Exercise Science and directs the Environment & Policy Laboratory. Holding a research associate professorship at the Survey Research Center in the Institute for Social Research, she has significant experience in grant-funded projects totaling over $10 million from organizations like the National Institutes of Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Colabianchi's academic contributions include more than 80 peer-reviewed articles and she serves as an ad hoc reviewer for numerous scientific journals. Her academic backgrounds include a PhD in Epidemiology from Case Western Reserve University and experience as an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina. Colabianchi's research focuses on the impact of environmental policies on physical activity among children and adults, exploring aspects like park and school neighborhood environments. She plays an active role in teaching about the relationship between policy, environment, and physical activity behavior at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
