Professor Dr. Natalie Leblanc

Biography

Natalie LeBlanc is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art Education at the University of Victoria. She holds a PhD in Curriculum Studies from the University of British Columbia and two degrees from Concordia University, including a Master of Arts in Art Education and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education and Design Art. Her research focuses on artistic inquiry and visual and artistic education methodologies, exploring identity through art and the significance of relationality within teaching and learning environments. Dr. LeBlanc's work emphasizes participatory and socially engaged art practices, as well as digital studio art practices. She investigates the role of contemporary conceptual art in educational settings and has presented her findings at various national and international conferences. Her contributions to the field include numerous publications highlighting the intersections of art, identity, and educational responsibility, particularly in the context of K-12 and higher education environments. Dr. LeBlanc is committed to fostering an understanding of how art can facilitate deeper learning experiences and critical engagement with the world.
