Dr. Natalie Mezey

Biography

Natalie Mezey is a medical student affiliate trainee at Queen's University Faculty of Medicine. She obtained her MD from Queen's University and matched into the McGill Ophthalmology residency program. Previously, she earned a Master of Arts in French Linguistics and a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Neuroscience and Mental Health, both from Carleton University. Her research interests focus on ophthalmology, neuroscience, access to care in rural and remote communities, the history of medicine, linguistics, and discourse analysis. Additionally, she is involved in impactful projects, including starting a slit-lamp elective program for medical students and co-authoring children's books to help demystify complex medical topics for pediatric patients and their guardians. Natalie also volunteers as a medic with the Canadian Ski Patrol and is passionate about skiing, hiking, kayaking, and climbing, with memorable hikes such as Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. She is a long-time advocate for the Canadian Neuroendocrine Tumour patient community, actively raising funds and awareness through half marathons and 10K races.
