Biography

Natalie R. Schellpfeffer is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Michigan Medical School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Carthage College and her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Schellpfeffer completed her residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Michigan, joining the faculty in 2019. Her academic interests focus on quality improvement, patient safety in pediatrics, pediatric illness and injury prevention, and child health advocacy. In 2025, she was appointed Medical Director of Patient Safety in Pediatrics at Michigan Medicine, and previously served as Service Chief of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine in 2024. Passionate about her work, Schellpfeffer is dedicated to caring for acutely ill and injured children and their families in the Children's Emergency Services. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and sons.
