Biography

Natalie Jomini Stroud is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She holds a Ph.D. from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Stroud is the founding director of the Center for Media Engagement, which seeks to understand and improve the media ecosystem to benefit democracy. She is a Stroud Fellow at the International Communication Association and has been associated with the Annenberg Public Policy Center. Her research focuses on the role of media in democracy, and she has received numerous awards both nationally and internationally, including the International Communication Association's prestigious Outstanding Book Award for her book "Niche News: Politics and News Choice" and the inaugural Public Engagement Award from the Journalism Studies Division of the ICA. Her work has been published in top-tier academic journals such as Science, Nature, Journal of Communication, and New Media & Society. Stroud has been recognized twice with the Outstanding Faculty Member Award from the Communication Studies Graduate Community.
