I hold the inaugural Henry Cabot Linnea Lodge Scandinavian Professorship in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta. In addition, I serve as the Director of Undergraduate Programs and Program Advisor for Scandinavian studies. My research interests include Old Norse-Icelandic paleography, philology, manuscript culture, hagiography, religious literature, gender studies, and disability studies. I have published a number of articles and book reviews in venues such as Scandinavian Studies, Journal of English and Germanic Philology, Speculum, and Scandinavian-Canadian Studies. I completed a detailed study, edition, and translation of the cults and legends of Martha and Mary Magdalene in medieval Iceland and have received the Killam Research Fund award from the University of Alberta for my archival research. My recent projects examine early modern poetry concerning women and saints, and I completed a research project on disability narratives in Old Norse-Icelandic sagas.
