Biography

Professor Natalya Vaysfeld is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at King's College London. Her research focuses on a broad spectrum of applied mathematics, particularly the solving of boundary value problems in mathematical physics. These problems are key in modeling phenomena in areas such as elasticity, fluid mechanics, biology, and engineering. She investigates complex interactions in porous homogeneous media and addresses issues related to defects in forms of stress, whether mechanical, thermal, static, or dynamic. Vaysfeld's work bridges various disciplines, combining rigorous mathematical theory with numerical modeling, coding, and testing. She leverages advanced pure mathematics techniques to address real-world problems. She earned an MSc in Mathematics and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Odesa National Mechnikov University in Ukraine, and continued her research at the Pidstryhach Institute of Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics in Lviv, where she was awarded a full professorship. In 2024, she was honored with the Royal Society Wolfson Fellowship for her investigations into the mechanics of coupled fields, furthering her research using advanced mathematical methods.
