Biography

Natasha Campling began her career as a cancer palliative nurse at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London before becoming an academic researcher in 2000. She undertook her PhD at King's College London in 2006, funded by a doctoral training award from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and joined the University of Southampton in 2015. As an Associate Professor in the postgraduate taught team at the School of Health Sciences, she is responsible for providing specialist modules in expert cancer care for clinicians as part of the MSc in Professional Practice in Health Sciences. Her research focuses on understanding experiences and processes over the year of life, especially in bereavement and end-of-life care. Natasha has led numerous studies and published widely in the field of palliative and end-of-life research, contributing to the development of educational interventions aimed at improving supported self-management, particularly in managing opioids-related side effects. She has worked closely with palliative end-of-life care teams across multiple NHS hospitals in England, and her recent work includes examining the role of paramedics in delivering end-of-life care through the ParAid study funded by Marie Curie.
